Within walking distance of the house you will find virtually all the essential services: Ten restaurants with a varied selection of domestic and international cuisine, confectionery Ovocný světozor, cafes, Mc Donald’s, drugstore, pharmacy, hairdresser and supermarket. If you are in the mood or need of larger shopping, just take 2 tram stops or drive 5 minutes and you will find one of the biggest shopping centers in Prague: Anděl City – Nový Smíchov, where you can also find not one, but two multiplex cinemas.
Kindergarten is hidden in the yard two blocks from the house, another in the garden Santoška, where it complements elementary school.
Directly from the street you will see the most important Czech monument – Vyšehrad (High castle), with the facade of the Basilica of St. Peter and Paul. A 1000-year-old castle complex that served as the seat of the ancient Czech rulers, princes and kings long before the Prague Castle was built. Tram number 7 will take you to Vyšehrad in a few minutes, to Prague Castle within a quarter of an hour.
Despite the fact that it is primarily a residential part of Prague, the center is still within easy walking distance and thus opens the possibility of visiting museums, churches, galleries and the historic center under the patronage of UNESCO. It is actually the best of both worlds.
Excellent transport service is provided mainly by metro station line B Smíchovské nádraží, which is within one minute walk from home. Suburban and intercity connections are then provided by the train station of the same name, which offers, for example, fast connections to Beroun, Pilsen or Nuremberg, but also with the S line to Prague Main Station right in the city center.
Furthermore, at the same, subtly built, transport junction you can find a tram connection to the countryside and to the city. Lines 4, 5, 12, 16 and 20 take you to all corners of Prague – within five minutes to the local center – Anděl City. And where trams do not go, you can use up to 15 bus lines.
Parking is available directly on the street, as well as for your visits, within the purple urban zone.
In the immediate vicinity you will find plenty of freely accessible greenery, gardens and parks. Right next to the house is a small park with a fountain, through the Smíchov footbridge Paví vrch with a park and a garden Santoška, from which you can seamlessly go to the orchards Na Skalce. On the other side of the street, opposite the park, you will find a sports complex with a restaurant and an outdoor swimming pool.
Directly opposite is the Císařská louka island with a playground and canoeing activities.
On the eastern bank of the Vltava river you can surely appreciate a swimming pool and aqua center Podolí, as well as more and more possibilities for trips and walks along the picturesque river bank, or to the adjacent Branice rocks.
